Welcome Days
Join, connect, and prepare – make the most of your start in Mannheim.
The first day is dedicated to the administration required when starting to live and study here, and the remaining two weeks are devoted to intensive German training. You will take a placement test on the first day, and you will then be placed in a class. This is a great opportunity to get to know your fellow international students.
During these two weeks, there are only a few other students at the university, as the technical courses start two weeks later. This is a chance to get to know the university on your own terms.

But living in Germany is not just about studying. But living in Germany is not just about studying. The Rhine-Neckar Region is a very attractive area to live in, so you will have the opportunity to take free trips with the International Office to nearby sites, including Heidelberg, the wine-growing region around Deidesheim in the Pfalz, and Mannheim city center, among others. This is a great opportunity to get to know other students and gather ideas for future weekend trips. Most destinations in the region are covered by your ÖPNV ticket.
